Allred Lake Natural Area 2005 : Swamp, slough and bottomland forest with rare species in the Lowlands Section of the Mississippi Lowland Natural Division. Ancient bald cypress and tupelo trees ring this natural pond, probably Missouri's best example of an undisturbed cypress pond. The water harbors two state-endangered fishes - the swamp darter and taillight shiner. Trees of the bottomland forest include water locust, sweet gum, pecan, willow, and swamp chestnut, water, and overcup oaks. The rare Nuttall's oak also grows here.

Mammoth Springs, Ark. 2004 : Mammoth Spring, Arkansas's largest spring and a National Natural Landmark, flows nine million gallons of water hourly. Forming a scenic 10-acre lake, it then flows south as the Spring River, a popular Ozark trout and float stream. Near the spring, the 1886 Frisco depot will take you back to the early 1900s.

Mingo National Wildlife Refuge 2005 : The Mingo swamp was formed about 18,000 years ago when the Mississippi River shifted to the east, leaving a dense swamp to form in its abandoned channel. In 1945, the area was established as a National Wildlife Refuge, primarily to provide resting, nesting, and feeding habitat for waterfowl and other migratory birds. Today, Mingo is comprised of 21,676 acres of mostly hardwood bottomland swamp. The refuge is the only large tract of bottomland forest left in the bootheel of Missouri.

Round Springs State Park 2005 : The spring flows into an almost perfectly circular cavern that has collapsed, and from there it travels through a natural tunnel before it emerges into the spring branch. It is believed that a portion of the spring's recharge area is to the northeast of Spring Valley, which means that the water would have to flow under the Current River to reach the spring. Round Spring was also one of the first parks in the Missouri state park system (1932).
